Positive Education

Positive Education brings together the science of Positive Psychology with best practice teaching to encourage and support individuals, schools and communities to flourish. Flourishing refers to a combination of ‘feeling good and doing good’. Positive Education focuses on specific skills that assist students to strengthen their relationships, build positive emotions, enhance personal resilience, promote mindfulness and encourage a healthy lifestyle.

The Mount Waverley North Primary School Positive Education & Wellbeing Framework outlines and encompasses the central elements of our approach to wellbeing. It is our guiding framework from which we build a positive culture to support all at our school.

Positive Education at Mount Waverley North Primary School is more than simply a program to be taught, but a school culture which permeates all that we do. By applying a positive lens to our educational setting, through a range of tools and approaches based on the science of positive psychology, our students will be more likely to engage their strengths for personal and community goals and develop a growth mindset that sustains lifelong learning.

We encourage and support our students so that they can flourish. Positive Education at MWNPS focuses on the explicit teaching of skills that assist students to build mutually respectful relationships, promote positive emotions and mindfulness, enhance personal resilience and grit, and encourage a healthy lifestyle. We also aim to foster engagement, encourage them to achieve, be grateful for the good things in their life and ultimately, equip them with the qualities to enable them to reach their full potential.
